REVIEW: Chaka Khan Forgot a Few Songs

Its was a fashionably late start, but the same for guest arriving some as late as 45 minutes into Chaka Khan's 90 minute, no intermission set. The legendary songstress came out in full star status with her beautiful smile, shlepping across the stage, constantly playing with her bountiful hair, obviously in Chaka style. Chaka Khan was part of the Arsht Center 'Live at the Knight" series.

She performed through some of her many hits, including "Ain't Nobody", and “Tell Me Something Good”.

Her powerful voice, although still great, still lacking from her better days, performing simply her many hits, a 4 piece band, 3 back up singers, and a giant disco ball. During her performance she acknowledge her friend and local songstress Betty Wright, coming out on stage for a hug.

After performing for about 45 minutes, Chaka left the stage, crowd assuming she was heading for a wardrobe change, and the band went into a 15 minute solo session. Chaka returned to perform two more songs including "I'm Every Woman" to then bolt off stage into a waiting car. Audience waiting for the encore and her two most famous songs "Through the Fire" and the Prince remake, "I Feel For You", that took Chaka Khan to stardom, we're left in denial. Not her best outing, but still entertaining. SEE MORE PHOTOS

Chaka performs Saturday at the Kravits Center in Palm Beach.
