It was a first for new Latin Grammy winners Gente de Zona and for JBalvin. Amazing performances by Juanes, Farruku with Kamani Marley, and Pharell Williams with Bia and JBalvin. But the talk to the night was all about Jennifer Lopez and her ex Marc Anthony, who was honored by the Latin Grammy's this year.
The power couple, who have two children Max and Emme, sang a remake of a Pimpinela song, which started across the stage until both were facing face to face. As JLO started her admiration for her ex, the crowd chanted "kiss, kiss, kiss" finally she popped kiss the salsa singer and the crowd was pleased and every media outlet had the meat they needed for Latin Grammy coverage. Basically making the awards secondary.
Backstage an array of winners posed for their award including Julieta Venegas, Jesse and Joy, Carlos Vives, and first time winners Gente de Zona..
Always the best part of any award show is the fashions on the red carpet. We loved many including Despierta America host Karla Martinez, Becky G, LG host Roselyn Sanchez, Chiqui Delgado's dress by Alejandro Fajardo and Jennifer Lopez holding photogs in suspense until she made her entrance 10 minutes after the actual telecast had started, but worth the wait. She looked amazing!
Latin Grammy's keeps coming back to Las Vegas and not hard not too. We're sure the deal for Univision and the Latin Grammy organization is an offer that can't be replicated anywhere else. As long as the show doesn't keep being repetitive and stale, they will keep heading to sin city. Most of the Latin Grammy awards have taken place in Las Vegas with Los Angeles hosting twice and Houston, New York and Miami, once each. Yes Miami, capital of Latin Music hosting only once since inception of the awards in 2000. Go figure, but I guess aside from financial, the academy likes to honor Cuban artist from the island and sometimes that becomes controversial in our city.
