Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks Exhibit Opening at the PAMM

A special exhibit opened at the PAMM this week with one of the 80's most eclectic, self taught, NYC artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The exhibit titled, Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks, is organized by the Brooklyn Museum and is curated by Dieter Buchhart, guest curator, with Tricia Laughlin Bloom. It includes mostly Jean-Michel Basquiat’s notebooks, which included notes, doodles, poems, sayings, many art sketches, including his infamous crown and skeleton figures.

During the late eighties, Jean-Michel Basquiat was part of the art circles on the lower east side of Manhattan and bff with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf, all creating different art forms. Basquiat was half Haitian, and half Puertorican decent, born in New York City.

He was another artist gone to soon at 27, as many other legends. Basquiat once said, "I'm not a real person. I'm a legend".

The exhibit runs through October 16, 2016 at the PAMM, 1103 Biscayne Blvd.
